Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) held the 17th World Congress on Long Term Care in Chinese Communities Closing ceremony and the Healthy Ageing Research Centre Plaque Unveiling Ceremony on the 27th October 2023 at the Islands District Medical Complex Campus and the College conferred excellent oral presentation awards and poster presentation awards to winning participants. Then, there was a Congress Flag Handover Ceremony. On the same day, KWNC held the Healthy Ageing Research Centre Plaque Unveiling Ceremony.
Since 2002, the World Congress on Long Term Care in Chinese Communities has been hosted in various Chinese cities annually. With the objective of facilitating long-term care services development in Chinese Communities.
The Congress this year is organised by KWNC, attracting nursing experts and scholars in cross-strait four regions to gather in Macao and explore the enhancement of service quality of long-term care in Chinese communities. KWNC received 180 papers with more than 500 congress attendees, while there were more than 23,000 viewer times online.
Winners of the excellent oral presentation award are representatives of Sichuan Polus International College, Hong Kong Po Leung Kuk, and Taiwan FiT’N FUN Sport and Health Management. While winners of the excellent poster presentation award are representatives of Hong Kong United Christian Hospital, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, and Taiwan Pingtung Christian Hospital.
The 18th World Congress on Long Term Care in Chinese Communities will be organised by Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University next year. During the Congress Flag Handover Ceremony, the Chair of the Organising Committee Leong Sok Man handed over the Congress’s flag to the Hospital’s Director of the Scientific Research and Education Department Chen Jie.
The College held the Healthy Ageing Research Centre Plaque Unveiling Ceremony on the same day. KWNC President Van Iat Kio introduced the goals of the Centre, involving the plan of transdisciplinary research regarding comprehensive exploration of older adults’ health issues, with initiative-taking cooperation between the centre and external organisations and applying the research output to promote the health of seniors. She also anticipated that the Centre could facilitate the think tank platform of senior health development and make more contributions to the society.
