On 17 November 2025, the ‘Thought Exchange’ event for the Master of Nursing Programme 2025 cohort (MN2025) at Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) was successfully held. All students of the cohort gathered with Professor Zhu Mingxia, Programme Leader of the MN course, utilising cultural sharing and culinary exchange as a medium. This initiative built bridges for interaction and communication among peers hailing from diverse regions, fostering closer bonds through the collision of ideas and the fusion of emotions, thereby cementing profound friendships.

At the outset, class representative Chao Un Iong introduced the composition and specific responsibilities of the MN2025 class committee to attendees. She elaborated on the core purpose of the ‘Thought Exchange’ initiative and outlined its future planning. The ‘Thought Exchange’ aims to foster intellectual discourse and experiential sharing among students. Future sessions will regularly explore themes such as research progress and personal development, encouraging all students to cherish their campus years and actively enrich themselves. Furthermore, the committee collaborated with students to design a distinctive ‘Thought Exchange’ emblem. Drawing inspiration from the colour scheme of the KWNC emblem and aligning with the event's ethos, the logo symbolises how each intellectual exchange sparks brilliant insights, thereby strengthening class cohesion.

During the cultural sharing segment, Professor Zhu Mingxia focused on local Macao traditions, delivering a specialised lecture on Macao's funeral customs for mainland students. Through vivid case studies and detailed interpretations, she facilitated a deeper understanding of Macao's unique cultural practices. Simultaneously, Professor Zhu emphasised the importance of embracing the unique two-year campus experience: ‘Approach your studies and daily life with the attitude of “making the most of every moment”. Should academic pressures arise, do not hesitate to contact the College’s counselling staff for support. Alternatively, engage in outdoor activities with peers—such as hiking or exploring Macao’s landmarks—to maintain a balanced mental and physical state.’

The event concluded with a lively food-sharing session, where students brought regional delicacies from their hometowns to exchange. Teachers and students engaged in lively discussions on topics such as ‘regional culinary differences’ and ‘similarities and contrasts in festive customs.’ Some shared traditional New Year practices from their hometowns, while others exchanged distinct preparation methods for similar snacks. Through the interplay of flavours and conversation, mutual understanding deepened. Participating students reflected that as the class's inaugural collective exchange event, it not only offered a taste of regional specialities but also fostered closer bonds through cultural dialogue, proving highly rewarding.

Moving forward, the MN2025 cohort will continue to promote the ‘Thought Exchange’ series, establishing platforms for dialogue around diverse themes. This initiative aims to further foster intellectual exchange and emotional bonding among classmates, helping cultivate a positive, united, and supportive atmosphere within the class.
