Commendation for Older Adult Census Interviewers
On February 11, the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) held an award ceremony to honor “Interviewers for the Census and Registration of Older Adults Living Alone and in Two-Person Households” and “Volunteers for the 15th National Games in Macao Competition Zone,” recognizing students’ outstanding contributions to these two significant social service initiatives. Over 100 attendees, including President Van Iat Kio, Vice Presidents Leong Sok Man and Ng Wai I, along with faculty and students, participated in the event.
In late 2025, the College responded to an invitation from the Social Welfare Bureau to organize dozens of faculty and students to participate in the census and registration of older adults living alone and in couples. From late 2025 to early 2026, interviewers conducted in-depth community outreach, successfully completing surveys on the living conditions of over 2,000 older adults. This provided crucial data support for the SAR government to understand the health status of older adults and formulate relevant policies. The project achieved remarkable results and received high recognition from the Social Welfare Bureau. At the commendation ceremony, KWNC honored 42 outstanding interviewers, most of whom participated in at least 5 days of surveys, with 8 contributing for over 10 days.
The 15th National Games Macao Venue events concluded successfully in November 2025. The College's volunteer team demonstrated professionalism throughout the games and received widespread acclaim. The Macao Preparatory Office for the National Games earlierawarded Star Volunteer honors to over thirty students. Combining this with its own internal selection, the College today collectively recognized 110 outstanding volunteers. Their service spanned multiple roles including guest reception, transportation guidance, and hotel consultation, fully demonstrating the professional competence and service spirit of KWNC faculty and students.
In their addresses, President Van Iat Kio and Vice President Leong Sok Man encouraged all faculty and students to maintain their passion for service, contributing to Macao's community and healthcare sector, while extending New Year greetings. The commendation ceremony unfolded in a warm atmosphere, highlighting the college's strong tradition of active social engagement.
