Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC), which has been deeply engaged in the field of geriatric health education and research for many years, has recently achieved a new milestone in its academic development. Building on the extensive experience and solid expertise of the college’s gerontology teaching and research team, Associate Professor Wu JianWei has been invited to serve as Associate Editor of the internationally renowned journal - The Journals of Gerontology: Medical Sciences. This appointment represents a high level of recognition from the international academic community for the overall teaching and research standards of our college in the field of gerontology, signifying that the college’s course quality, academic research and industry contributions in this field have attained international competitiveness and brand influence.

The Journals of Gerontology: Medical Sciences, organised by the Gerontological Society of America and published by Oxford University Press, is a leading academic journal in the field of gerontology. According to the latest report from Clarivate Analytics, the journal’s 2024 impact factor stands at 3.8, with a five-year impact factor of 4.8, ranking fifth among 48 gerontology journals worldwide, its academic influence and industry recognition have attracted significant attention. This honour not only highlights the professional depth and international perspective of the Gerontology team at KWNC in research areas such as older adult health management, dementia care and older adult service planning, but also further enhances the reputation and contribution of Macao’s nursing education and research in the global context of ageing.

As a key force in gerontology and nursing education and research in Macao, the Gerontology Teaching and Research Team at KWNC has long been grounded in the social needs of Macao, extending its influence to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and aligning with international cutting-edge developments.
