To deepen the exchange and integration of nursing education between Guangdong and Macau, broaden the scope of nursing talent development, and promote the effective integration of Chinese and Western nursing philosophies and practices, the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) has joined forces with the School of Nursing at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GZUCM) to launch a minor programme in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Nursing. This initiative is open to undergraduate students at the Macau Kiang Wu College of Nursing, providing a systematic learning platform for those interested in TCM nursing, helping them broaden their professional horizons and enhance their employability.
Launched as early as 2012, the minor programme in Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing represents a significant talent development initiative introduced by KWNC in response to industry trends and the demand for healthcare professionals in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Following a rigorous selection process, four outstanding students have been successfully selected for this academic year’s minor programme and will commence a one-semester period of specialised study at the School of Nursing, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in February 2026. The minor programme covers core theoretical courses such as Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing, and Clinical Nursing in Traditional Chinese Medicine, alongside extensive clinical placement sessions, enabling students to gain an in-depth understanding of the essence and practical application of Traditional Chinese Medicine nursing. Furthermore, the programme features a special module on ‘International Exchange and Practice in Integrated Chinese and Western Nursing’, designed to broaden students’ international perspectives and foster the integration and innovation of nursing philosophies from both traditions.
