Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) and the University of Macau Faculty of Education signed a framework cooperation agreement on 27 May 2026, to deliver a systematic "Fundamental First Aid Certificate Course" to Education students annually. The agreement was signed by President Van Iat Kio of KWNC and Dean Fan Lianghuo of the Faculty of Education.

Cooperation between the two institutions began in 2022. Over the past five years, more than 100 Faculty of Education students per academic year have taken part in the programme, which started with early childhood education and has since expanded to primary education and additional teacher-training majors. President Van Iat Kio noted that the long-standing collaboration has built deep mutual trust; this formal agreement aims to institutionalize the partnership and ensure sustained, stable delivery of the training.

Teachers work closely with pupils every day; when emergencies occur in the classroom or on campus, teachers trained in first aid are the first line of defence for students’ safety. In his remarks, Dean Fan Lianghuo emphasized that first aid training is an essential component of teacher preparation and that the ability to provide emergency care can be decisive for saving lives.

The course will be delivered by KWNC’s professional teaching team. Instructors hold certifications from the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), the American Heart Association (AHA), or the Beijing 120 First Aid Training Centre, and the curriculum is aligned with the latest international first‑aid guidelines.
