There is a lack of discussion on advance care planning (ACP) in Macao's long term care (LTC) sector, resulting in frequent hospitalization of residents at the end of their lives, where they still have to undergo invasive and ineffective treatments, and suffer from pain caused by treatments and symptoms, and there is a lack of discussion and implementation of ACP by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region and various sectors of the community. Through educational interventions for health and social service professionals in residential care homes and the development of the advance care planning tool, the study was able to enhance the knowledge and willingness of frontline health and social service professionals in order to promote the implementation of advance care planning in residential care homes. In order to further promote the understanding of advance care planning in the community, a learning platform is being developed and will be released for public use in the near future.
