Quality Assurance System of the College
1. External supervision
The College's programme operations are supervised by the Tertiary Education Services Office of the Macao SAR Government. In the meantime, Advisory Committee is set up to oversee the management of the College. Employers' feedback on graduates' performance are also collected by the College after 6 months of employment.
2. Internal supervision
a. Supervision from superiors
Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association leads the College by appointing the Board of Directors as the College's highest authority.
b. Supervision from committees
Within the College, Academic Committee is set up to supervise the College’s development in teaching, researches and social services. Examination Committee and Programme Committee are set up to monitor various programmes and the former is chaired by the College President. Each programme of the College is assigned an external examiner who is responsible for making comments and suggestions on programme planning and assessment methods and performing evaluation of the programme quality.
c. Mechanism of management and supervision
i. |
The College sets up the Education Department to manage and coordinate various programmes’ development, organize internal teacher training and induction programmes to new teachers. "Management Methods for Educational Administration" and "Teacher Handbook" are also in place to offer instructions to teachers. In addition, Programme Leaders observe lectures on a regular basis to monitor teaching progress and quality. |
ii. |
Each programme is assigned Programme Leader(s) who is responsible for managing the programme and organizing teachers' meeting regularly to promote communication and consensus among teachers. |
iii. |
The College also appoints Nursing Education Consultant to offer supervision, guidance and suggestions for improvement on the College's teaching. |
iv. |
Teaching evaluation questionnaire: Students are asked to fill in evaluation questionnaires for subject teachers and clinical instructors at the end of each semester. The evaluation will be reviewed and taken as reference for teaching improvement by Programme Leaders and teachers. |
3. Clinical Teaching Supervision
Both the College and the clinical training base jointly manage, guide, supervise and inspect clinical study of students. Through the clinical teaching supervision system, the clinical teaching group of the College and the clinical training bases have established an effective communication mechanism. Before clinical study, during the clinical study process and at the end of the study, there are regular clinical teaching meetings to reach a consensus on clinical teaching plan, objectives, assessment standards and evaluation. These are to ensure the quality of clinical study for students, also adjustments and improvements can be made in a timely manner. At the institute level, there are regular communication meetings between clinical teaching management personnel of the two parties, and the clinical training base also sends representatives to attend the Programme Committee Meeting to express opinions and suggestions every academic year, and conduct system review and enhancement on curriculum design and teaching quality. The College collects and analyses students' feedback on clinical teaching in different clinical training bases through questionnaires every academic year.
